Building Permits & Inspections
The Building Permits and Inspections Department is dedicated to helping protect the life, health and property of all the citizens of Douglas County from hazards of faulty design and construction.
Business License / Occupational Tax
The Occupational Tax Department is responsible for issuing Occupational Tax Registrations for In-home and Commercial locations, better known as a business license, for the unincorporated jurisdiction of Douglas County.
The Code Enforcement Department ensures properties are in compliance with these codes, and is responsible for issuing citations and court summonses for violations.
Communications & Community Relations
The Douglas County Department of Communications and Community Relations aims to raise the profile of Douglas County in a positive manner through strategic communication skills through facilitating information between the Board of Commissioners, county officials, citizens, news media and staff so that all Douglas County citizens are well informed about the efforts of county government.
Cooperative Extension Service
Douglas County Cooperative Extension provides many different services to the citizens of Douglas County in connection with its association with the University of Georgia.
dctv23 is the Douglas County government access cable television channel, and it serves the governments and public agencies of Douglas County with announcements and programming. dctv23 is headquartered in the Douglas County Department of Communications and Community Relations and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
Department of Transportation
The Department of Transportation maintains safe roadway infrastructure, manages planning and programming activities, and completes other duties.
Development Services is responsible for directing the operations of the Planning and Zoning Department, Building and Occupational Tax Department, Codes Enforcement and Development Control.
Elections & Voter Registration
The Board of Elections and its Director are responsible for conducting all elections in such a manner as to guarantee the secrecy of the ballot, and perform other duties as may be prescribed by law.

The Cedar Mountain Landfill services thousands of citizens and commercial accounts each month. The Landfill and its solid waste and recycling programs are required by law to be self-sufficient that is supported by user fees (tipping fees) as opposed to tax dollars.

Risk & Safety
The purpose of the Office of Risk & Safety (ORS) is to provide oversight and protection of County assets through purchase of insurance, contractual transfer of risk, program and operational analysis, mitigation of losses, loss prevention and related Safety & Loss Control programs to minimize risk and losses.
Senior Services provides a variety of services designed to promote and preserve the independence and integrity of older adults in Douglas County.
All new purchases of vehicles, whether from a dealership or an individual, are subject to a one-time 7% State of Georgia Title Ad Valorem Tax (TAVT).
