CORE
Overview
Douglas Community Organizing Resources for Excellence (CORE) is a community collaborative representing non-profits, civic organizations, health and human services, education, law enforcement, churches, families and youth. This partnership strives to assess and evaluate present needs and resources for children and families while searching for additional resources to fill in gaps in services and discourage duplication of services.
Douglas CORE is the recognized Family Connection collaborative for Douglas County with the mission to improve the well-being of the community, including support for producing both self-sufficient adults, and strong, healthy, educated families.
Forums
CORE Forums are held at 9:45 am on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the West Georgia Technical College Conference Center (4600 Timber Ridge Drive, in Douglasville). The Public is invited and encouraged to attend and participate.
Mission
CORE is a partnership among the government, private sector, citizens, educators, and health and human services organizations of Douglas County.
Its mission is to improve the well-being of the community, including support for producing both self-sufficient adults, and strong, healthy, educated families.
CORE accomplishes this mission through its partners by:
- Choosing priority issues
- Collaborating to raise grant funds and coordinating existing resources around a common agenda
- Identifying community needs, strengths, and resources
- Sharing experience, knowledge and resources to plan solutions
Vision
Douglas County is a community of strong, healthy families with access to coordinated health and human services that addresses problems and positively affects the quality of life.
CORE is the formal partnership that keeps up with the heartbeat of the County, and pulls the whole community together by constantly assessing needs and improvements, providing information to the Public, and securing grants as needed. As a result, Douglas County serves as an example of how communities have taken charge of their future, causing overwhelming improvement in benchmark objectives.
Values
In pursuing the Mission, CORE values include:
- A consumer focus, not an agency focus
- Good stewardship and the efficient use of resources
- Input from the community
- Measurable outcomes and accountability for results
- The power of collaboration
- Prevention rather than intervention
- Responsibility and standards at the individual, family and community levels
- Supporting existing organizations in the community
