Residential building permits costs are generated by computer and vary with each permit. Costs are based on square footage and estimated cost of construction.
Residential building permits are active for six months. They may be extended for an additional six months. This extension is not automatic, you must contact the Building Department to extend your permit.
In most cases a residential building permit can be issued the same day as requested by the owner or builder with a Walk-Through Form if all requested documents are available, all fees are paid and all County departments have signed the application form.
Residential building inspections are scheduled from a telephone call-in message system - 770-920-7333. Inspections will be scheduled for the next business day. No same-day inspections are performed in Douglas County. You must have a valid building permit to acquire an inspection.
