About Connect Douglas

Connect Douglas is the transit, public transportation and mobility services division of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners. Services include fixed route bus service, ADA paratransit service, mobility assistance for senior adults and disabled individuals, travel training and Xpress bus service to Atlanta (operated by the Georgia State Roads and Tollway Authority).

In Fall 2018, Rideshare became Connect Douglas to better identify Douglas County’s goal of providing transit and mobility services for all residents of our community. A history of Rideshare/Connect Douglas is offered among other valuable information about Connect Douglas services.

Fixed Route Bus Service

Fixed route service is simple. Buses follow set routes and schedules, stopping at specific places. People can depend on these buses to arrive regularly, making it easy to travel to different locations in the community. It's affordable, reliable, and available to everyone. Connect Douglas operates four routes:  Route 10      Route 20      Route 30      Route 40 .

Fares

You can use exact change to pay for your trip as you board the bus, or you can purchase a ticket, 10-trip pass, or 31-day passes at the Douglas County Transportation Center.

  • The standard one-way fare is $2.50.  A 10-trip pass costs $25, and a 31-day unlimited pass is $75.
  • Seniors (age 60+), individuals with disabilities, and students can get a Reduced Fare Card to pay $1 per trip, $10 per 10-trip pass, and $31 per 31-day pass.   Click here to submit the online Reduced Fare Application.

Flex Trips

As part of its fixed route service, Connect Douglas offers "flex service". Riders can call ahead to request  a "flex trip".  A bus will "flex" off its fixed route to pick up a rider.  After the rider is picked up, the bus returns to its regular fixed route.

Flex Trips  can be scheduled up to 24 hours in advance, but no later than 2 hours prior to the start of a route. Flex trips are only honored from 11AM-2PM.  Requested Flex destinations must be less than a mile from a point on the fixed route.

ADA Paratransit

The ADA requires all public transit operators to provide an equivalent service to eligible individuals whose disabilities prevent them from using accessible, lift-equipped public transit. This service, called “paratransit”, is required by the ADA to be “complementary” to fixed-route public transit service. By complimentary, the ADA means that paratransit operates at similar times and in similar areas as public transportation.

Connect Douglas Paratransit Service is a part of the public transportation system of Douglas County. It is neither a personal taxi nor a social service agency. It is a shared-ride, curb-to-curb transportation service for customers who are not able to use the regular bus service (also called “fixed route”) for some or all their trips because of a disability or other limitations. Paratransit service is provided within a one-mile radius of existing fixed routes and is comparable to the fixed route system in service times and area. Riders call a dispatch office to schedule Paratransit trips. Click here to download the ADA Paratransit Application.

The Voucher Program

Connect Douglas' Transportation Voucher Program helps seniors and disabled residents pay for private transportation. Instead of spending money, eligible participants get vouchers to use with approved private transportation companies (similar to taxi services). To schedule their trips, riders call these transportation providers directly. The vouchers can be used to pay  for any kind of trip within Metro-Atlanta—whether it's for medical reasons, personal needs, and more. For more information, click here to visit our webpage.

There is currently a waitlist for individuals interested in joining the Voucher Program.  To be added to the waitlist, please call (678) 449-3959 or complete the online Waitlist Request form (click here to join the Waitlist).
