Our New Name
Douglas County Rideshare is no longer. All services previously offered under the name Rideshare are now under the name
Connect Douglas. Director Gary Watson explained,
The name Rideshare served us well for almost thirty years. However, we decided that we need a name that better fits our mission, which is to connect area residents to all the places they need to go, such as the doctor, pharmacy, grocery store, work, and business.
Watson added that the new Connect Douglas name and graphics is being introduced to the public in a variety of ways. The new branding will not impact the vanpool, senior and disabled voucher, Xpress shuttle, carpooling and other services that were offered by the Rideshare/Multi-Modal Transportation Division.

Transportation Voucher Program
Connect Douglas offers a Transportation Voucher Program for senior adults and disabled individuals. The purpose of the Voucher Program is to assist senior adults, age 60 and over, and disabled individuals, age 19 to 59, in paying for "quality of life" trips for purposes such as shopping, entertainment and visiting with friends and family. The seniors and disabled who are approved to participate in the program contact designated transportation providers directly to arrange trips and pay for them using vouchers they purchase at a highly discounted rate from the Mobility Coordinator who is a member of the Connect Douglas staff.
The Voucher Program offers assistance to seniors and the disabled with planning trips, particularly trips that offer a connection with a neighboring transportation provider such as MARTA or CobbLinc. Connect Douglas is also recruiting local transportation providers including taxi companies, van services and non-emergency medical transportation services to participate in the Voucher Program. Seniors, disabled individuals and transportation providers who would like more information about the Voucher Program can email Mobility Coordinator Lawanda Young or call 770-920-7437.
