Douglas County Chairwoman, Dr. Romona Jackson Jones, delivered her 2022 State of the County Address Wednesday, at the Douglasville Conference Center and when she was finished, she received a standing ovation. Chairwoman Jones, serving in her second term, presented a wide range of topics recapping milestones from the past year and looking ahead to the future.

"The State of the County, for the place we call home, is stronger than ever," said Chairwoman Jones.  "When I came into office in 2017, the County's rainy-day fund was 11-million-dollars. Thanks to my administration's diligent and committed work, the account has increased by 53% and now has 33-million dollars. I am hopeful if we continue to work together as a community, we can build on the foundation of what has made Douglas County what it is today, the most favorite place to call home."

Chairwoman Jones stated that the County had accomplished quite a bit in the past year and had many more deliverables to complete.

"Our tolerance level has been strengthened by the obstacles we've faced, and hereafter we will continue to do whatever it takes to propel our County forward,” Chairwoman Jones said.  “And my report today is as follows: the State of Douglas County is Good!"

Chairwoman Jones also mentioned Douglas Forward 2025, a five-year strategic plan with six goals related to Public Safety, Infrastructure, Economic Development, Public Health, Recreational Facilities & Programs, and the Transformation of Douglas County.

The annual State of the County and City event was hosted by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners, the Council for Quality Growth, the City of Douglasville Government, and the Douglas County Chamber.
