[ARCHIVED] April SPLOST Revenues Outperform Original Projections

Splost

Douglas County is in the final year of the 2016 SPLOST, and the financials remain strong. In April, revenues were $2,932,995 compared to the original projection of $2,098,494. The total revenues from April 2017, the 1st month of revenue collections, through April 2022 are $141,623,764 compared to the original projection of $124,317,300. That’s a difference of $17,306,464.

“It is great seeing our citizens being able to not only experience their SPLOST pennies at work with projects like the Lee Road Widening, renovations of parks and fire stations, but also being on the receiving end as local vendors of those SPLOST proceeds,” said David Good, SPLOST Communications Director.

Director Good added as revenues rise, we are also seeing labor and materials costs increase along with supply chain issues that have impacted the country.  “This impacts our current and future projects, but the SPLOST team is managing expectations as commissioners, citizens, and stakeholders are being updated as projects are advertised, under construction and completed,” Director Good said.

There are 145 total SPLOST vendors, with 54 located within Douglas County. The 2016 SPLOST will end in April 2023. Douglas County Board of Commissioners has begun discussing whether to present a SPLOST 2022 for citizens to vote on.
