SPECIAL ELECTION CALLED FOR STATE SENATE DISTRICT 30 SEAT
Vacancy Created by Resignation of Senator Mike Dugan
(Douglasville, GA)- The Douglas County Board of Elections and Registrations is gearing up for a special election to fill the State Senate District 30 seat vacated by Senator Mike Dugan. Dugan resigned last week after announcing his intentions to run for Congress in the 3rd Congressional District. The announcement prompted an order from the Governor calling for a special election on February 13th, 2024.
Qualifying is underway this week for candidates. Early voting will run from January 22nd through February 8th, 2024, at the Douglas County Courthouse. Douglas County voters are urged to verify their voting location, status, and eligibility to vote in District 30, as court-mandated newly redrawn district lines may have impacted their representation.
“We are working diligently to notify voters of this important change,” said Board of Elections Director, Milton Kidd. “We are simultaneously focused on managing the logistics for ensuring a smooth and secure voting process for this upcoming special election in addition to several other elections on the calendar for this year. It is crucial for the citizens of Douglas County to engage in these elections to let their voice be heard by exercising their right to vote. We are happy to do our part to facilitate that process."
