(Douglasville, GA)- Douglas County Youth Commission Chairman and New Manchester High School Senior, Andres Garcia has received the prestigious ‘Youth Leadership of the Year Award’ from the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG). Garcia was recognized with the honor during ACCG’s Annual Leadership Conference in Savannah on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
The ‘Youth Leadership of the Year Award’ was created to recognize up-and-coming young leaders who represent ACCG's passion for community and excellence. Awardees are also tapped for their keen understanding of effective leadership skills in the public service sector and for their impact at school and in the community.
Throughout his high school journey, Garcia has been an active member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and served as President of the Student Ambassadors. His dedication to community service and leadership was further evidenced by his involvement in the Douglas County Youth Commission, where he was named Chairman to represent the 2023-24 class and later recognized with the Entrepreneur Award. Garcia has also participated in the 21st Century Leaders Goizueta Business Camp and successfully completed the Youth Leadership Douglas program.

Andres Garcia, who aspires to become a pilot, is scheduled to graduate in the top 10% of his high school class with nearly $500,000 in scholarship offers. He has chosen to pursue a degree in Aviation Science and Management, focusing on fixed-winged aircraft flight, at Middle Georgia State University.
