Judge Susan S. Camp is the newly appointed third State Court Judge for Douglas County. She was appointed by the Governor in December 2025. She previously served as a Magistrate Judge for Douglas County since 1995 and was first elected to the Chief Magistrate Judge position in 1998. She was honored to be the first elected female judge in Douglas County and has spent more than three decades serving the community from the bench.

Prior to her judicial service, Judge Camp worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit in North Georgia and later entered private practice in Douglasville. She looks forward to her new role and is eager to fulfill her duties here as Douglas County’s new State Court Judge.

Judge Camp earned both her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1982 and Juris Doctor in 1985 from the University of Georgia.

Scheduling Cases

  • Judge Camp controls the scheduling of the criminal and civil cases that are assigned to him. Criminal cases in which the defendant remains incarcerated without bond are given priority.
  • To waive your appearance at your Criminal/Traffic/DUI Arraignment Hearing, please complete the appropriate Arraignment Waiver form (under Documents) and file it with the Clerk’s office 24 hours prior to your scheduled hearing date.
  • Anyone with a pending criminal case and who is unable to afford to hire an attorney should contact the Douglas County Public Defender’s office. Please see the Public Defender's page for contact information and application requirements.
