The Douglasville Stingrays began as a small, independent, summer-league only swim club in 1997, practicing in an outdoor pool at Hunter Park. Organized and supported by parents and swimming enthusiasts, the team moved to a new indoor facility in 2004, the Boundary Waters Aquatic Center. The club was renamed the Douglas County Stingrays (DCS) and recently renamed to Direct Current Swimming (DCS) and still continue its evolution.
Today, DCS is a competitive, year-round, USA Swimming team that is administered and directed by member-volunteers. Over one hundred members strong and growing, Direct Current Swimming compete at local, state, regional and national levels.
Douglas County Sea Dragons team consist of swimmers from ages 8 and up. The teams compete in all types of swimming like butterfly stroke, breast stroke, backstroke, and free style, our Athletes also compete in relays. We practice typically from Nov to May and compete in at least 2 competitions.
Practices are Tuesdays from 4-5pm March-May
All 5 of Douglas County High Schools have swim teams that practice and compete at Boundary Waters Aquatic Center. They practice and have swim meets October-February each year. Swim Meets are on Thursdays from November-February which the aquatic center closes for. All swim meets are open to the public. Come out and cheer on your local kids!
