The Douglasville Stingrays began as a small, independent, summer-league only swim club in 1997, practicing in an outdoor pool at Hunter Park. Organized and supported by parents and swimming enthusiasts, the team moved to a new indoor facility in 2004, the Boundary Waters Aquatic Center. The club was renamed the Douglas County Stingrays (DCS) and recently renamed to Direct Current Swimming (DCS) and still continue its evolution.

Today, DCS is a competitive, year-round, USA Swimming team that is administered and directed by member-volunteers. Over one hundred members strong and growing, Direct Current Swimming compete at local, state, regional and national levels.
