Project Description
Project PI# 0013563 is the widening of CR 817/Lee Road/South Sweetwater Road in Douglas County, near the city of Lithia Springs. The proposed project would begin at the intersection of Lee Road and Vulcan Drive and extend north approximately 1.4 miles to the intersection of South Sweetwater Road and US 78/SR 5/ SR 8/Veterans Memorial Highway. From the southern terminus to Skyview drive, the proposed typical section would consist of a 4-lane divided urban section: four 11-ft lanes, 20-ft raised median, 2.5-ft curb & gutter, 2-ft grass beauty strip, 5-ft sidewalk along one shoulder and an 8-ft trail along the other. From Skyview Drive to US 78/SR 5/SR 8/Veterans Memorial Highway, the typical section would be a 3-lane urban section: two 11-ft lanes with a 14-ft two-way-left- turn-lane, 2.5-ft curb & gutter, 2-ft grass beauty strip, 5-ft sidewalk along one shoulder and an 8-ft trail along the other. The project also proposes to realign Lee Road/South Sweetwater Road as the through movement where Lee Road currently intersects Sweetwater Road at a T-intersection.
