About the Clerk

Madam Clerk Annetta Danley Stembridge, elected as the Douglas County Clerk of Superior and State Court in Douglas county in 2020, is the first Black person to hold this title.
She was born in Winston, Georgia, and has been a Douglas County resident her entire life. Her goal has always been to serve the citizens of Douglas County. As a legal advocate, she assisted indigent citizens in getting Food Stamps, AFDC, and SSI benefits. As a teacher at Douglas County High School, she helped train students to obtain licensure for Cosmetology. As a salon owner in downtown Douglasville for more than 35 years, she helped others realize inner and outer beauty. As a playwright, she blessed the community with positive messages.
She is passionate about public service and welcomes you to the Douglas County Clerk of Superior and State Court. Her favorite quote is by Robert Kennedy, who said, "When I see wrong, I want it righted." As we move into the new season, be assured that she will fight for the citizens of this county if the need arises.
Compassion for people is at the core of Ms. Stembridge's being and is the foundation of her administration as the Douglas County Clerk of Superior and State Court.

Clerk of Superior Court
The Clerk of Superior Court serves as the Clerk to the Superior Court of Douglas Judicial District and the State Court of County. The Clerk's Office is the custodian of Douglas County.
The Clerk's Office is the custodian of the court records dating back to 1871, including criminal and civil cases, real estate records, financing statements, intangible tax collection disbursement, passport applications.' (DD-214)
Clerk of State Court
The Clerk of State Court is the custodian of State Court records, including criminal misdemeanors, civil cases, and traffic citations. The State Court of Douglas County became effective July 1, 2001.
