Alcohol Server Permits

Any person who serves or works in the serving area of a restaurant, hotel, private club or lounge that has a pouring license for the sale of liquor, wine and/ or beer, shall submit an application and obtain an alcohol servers permit. 

 An appointment is required to apply for an alcohol server permit. To obtain an alcohol server permit, the applicant must:

  • Be 18 years old
  • Complete a brief test in order to demonstrate responsible alcohol services principles
  • Submit a background check obtained from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department (8470 Earl D. Lee Boulevard, Douglasville GA 30134)
  • A Valid Georgia ID must be provided

 Per Chapter 3 of the Douglas County Code of Ordinances, an alcohol server permit may be refused to an applicant based on the following information:

  • Conviction of a felony within a period of five (5) years immediately prior to the date upon which the application for an employee identification card was made, or 
  • Conviction in two (2) or more misdemeanors within five (5) years immediately preceding the applicant's application for an employee identification card, or 
  • Conviction within a period of five (5) years immediately preceding the application of any of the following offenses: D.U.I.; pandering, prostitution or soliciting prostitution; gambling; illegal sale of controlled substance or narcotic; or where the record indicates such employee would adversely affect the public health, safety or welfare, or violate the law.

An alcohol server permit is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
